Sail Into Something Memorable ⛵️
Some plans just feel a little more cinematic than others.
Like climbing aboard a luxury sailing ketch in Greenport Harbor, uncorking a bottle from your favorite North Fork vineyard, and spending the next few hours gliding past waterfront homes, quiet coves, and open Bay views while the rest of the world slows down for a minute.
That’s the Sail NoFo experience.
Operating out of historic Greenport Harbor, Sail NoFo offers private sailing adventures ranging from afternoon cruises to peaceful sunset sails, all led by a trained and licensed crew that make the entire experience feel both elevated and completely laid back.
There’s locally sourced light fare, plenty of room to unwind, and yes, the kind of sunset views that make everyone suddenly stop talking for a second.
And if you’ve ever wanted to do more than just sit back with a drink in hand, Sail NoFo also offers hands-on sailing instruction for those looking to sharpen their skills beyond the Bay.
For more information or to book a cruise, visit SailNoFo.com or call 631.906.8937.

Special Meeting on OLA Proposal 🏛️
The Town Board announced that it will hold another special meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 2:30 PM to continue debating proposed legislation that would establish how Southold police respond during future federal immigration enforcement operations. The discussion had originally been scheduled for the board's Aug. 11 work session.
Ahead of the meeting, the town also posted additional background materials, the agenda, Zoom information, and supporting documents online so residents can review the proposal before the discussion resumes.
The proposed law would require officers responding to federal immigration actions to notify town leadership, document the incident, communicate with federal agents on scene, and, when practical, request identification from those agents. It would also officially establish Southold's Public Safety Task Force in town code.

New Korean Restaurant 🍽️
Some of the best openings don't come with a big grand opening, they spread one recommendation at a time.
That's exactly what's happening at Blue Han Korean Kitchen & Café, which quietly opened on Shelter Island on June 21 and has quickly become a hidden gem.
Owner Annie Kim, who also owns Scarlett Rose Mindful Beauty salons in Greenport and Sag Harbor, had long dreamed of opening a Korean restaurant.
The restaurant's name reflects Kim's personality and story. "Blue" is a nod to her love of blues and jazz music, while "Han" represents the Korean emotion of resilience, longing, hope, and perseverance.
The menu focuses on authentic Korean dishes like bibimbap, kimbob, seafood pancakes, and spicy chicken, with staff happy to guide first time diners through unfamiliar flavors.

Historic Buildings Need Help 🛠️
The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council & Museums is seeking voter approval for a $60,000 annual tax levy to help maintain its six historic buildings, the Village Green, and the Old Burying Ground. If approved, the average property owner would pay about $21.52 per year, with the vote set for Aug. 25.
Executive Director Mark MacNish says the request reflects a simple reality: the volunteer workforce that once handled everything from mowing lawns to moving historic buildings has largely disappeared, forcing the organization to hire contractors for routine maintenance.
The need is growing, too. Four museum buildings need new roofs, with the Old Schoolhouse scheduled for replacement this fall. ($)

Selina II Is Home Again ⛵️
Nearly a century after it was built in Greenport, the Selina II has returned to its original home on Shelter Island, bringing with it a story of family, and tradition.
The 41 foot wooden catboat, built in 1926 at what is now Clarke's Shipyard, spent the last 25 years sailing Chesapeake Bay under Capt. Iris Robertson, who carried more than 60,000 passengers before retiring this spring. Rather than selling the historic vessel, her family passed it to the next generation, keeping a century long tradition alive.
That next chapter belongs to Luna Pearl Crowley, a Shelter Island summer resident and licensed captain whose own maritime roots run deep. Crowley learned to sail under the guidance of her great aunt, legendary mariner Pat Mundus, and now operates charter cruises aboard the Selina II from Dering Harbor.
