Ready, Set, Go!

Sail Into Something Memorable ā›µļø

Some plans just feel a little more cinematic than others.

Like climbing aboard a luxury sailing ketch in Greenport Harbor, uncorking a bottle from your favorite North Fork vineyard, and spending the next few hours gliding past waterfront homes, quiet coves, and open Bay views while the rest of the world slows down for a minute.

That’s the SailNoFo experience.

Operating out of historic Greenport Harbor, SailNoFo offers private sailing adventures ranging from afternoon cruises to peaceful sunset sails, all led by a trained and licensed crew that make the entire experience feel both elevated and completely laid back.

There’s locally sourced light fare, plenty of room to unwind, and yes, the kind of sunset views that make everyone suddenly stop talking for a second.

And if you’ve ever wanted to do more than just sit back with a drink in hand, SailNoFo also offers hands-on sailing instruction for those looking to sharpen their skills beyond the Bay.

For more information or to book a cruise, visit SailNoFo.com or call 631.906.8937.

The Lowdown

The Tuesday Tradition šŸ› ļø

For nearly 30 years, a group of retired North Fork men known simply as ā€œTuesday’s Crewā€ has spent their Tuesdays fixing up museums, historical buildings and nonprofits across the East End, entirely for free.

The crew has completed more than 160 projects over the years, helping places like Hallockville Museum Farm, the Railroad Museum of Long Island, the Southold Indian Museum and the North Fork Community Theatre tackle repairs many organizations simply couldn’t afford otherwise.

The group originally formed after volunteers working on the historic Regina Maris tall ship realized they weren’t ready to stop working together once the ship left Greenport in 1998. So they kept going, with coffee, ladders, saws and decades of experience in tow.

Lately, much of their work has focused on repairing severe winter damage at the Stirling Historical Society in Greenport after burst pipes flooded the building.

Over the years, one phrase became the unofficial motto of the crew, thanks to late member John Anderson, who passed away in 2024 at age 99. At the end of each workday, he’d quietly look around and say:

ā€œWell, we did some good here today.ā€

Sustainable Garden Tour 🌱

ReWild North Fork’s Sustainable Garden & Meadow Tour is returning June 20, giving East End residents a chance to wander through five pollinator friendly properties across Calverton, Baiting Hollow, Cutchogue and Peconic.

The self guided tour highlights homeowners who’ve traded traditional grass lawns for native plants, meadow landscapes and habitats designed to support birds, bees and local wildlife.

This year’s tour is also adding more hands on education, with representatives from the Group for the East End and Peconic Estuary Partnership stationed at each property to answer questions about sustainable landscaping, biodiversity and native planting. ($)

Birds Across the Americas 🐦

The North Fork Audubon Society is opening a new photography exhibit this week that highlights just how far some of the region’s migratory birds actually travel, and why protecting them takes more than local conservation efforts.

As part of the organization’s June 2 annual meeting at the Roy Latham Nature Center in Greenport, Southold native, wildlife biologist and nature photographer Mary Bertschi will debut Birds without Borders: Bridging the Americas to Protect the North Fork’s Migratory Birds.

The 16 photo exhibit features images captured during a January trip to Honduras alongside members of the North Fork Audubon Society, where the group explored a partnership with conservation organization Aves Honduras.

Beach Mural Is Blooming 🌻

Fifth Street Beach looked a little more colorful last Friday afternoon as Greenport students joined artist Kara Hoblin and local leaders to paint a new sunflower mural on the beach comfort station.

The mural is the first project under the new Greenport Village Mural Project, a community effort aimed at bringing more public art to spaces around the village.

The design pays tribute to a beloved sunflower mural that once covered the same wall facing the beach parking lot.

Village Trustee Lily Dougherty-Johnson, who leads the mural committee, said organizers hope this is just the beginning, with discussions already underway for murals at additional public spaces around Greenport.

A Private Workspace šŸ’»

There’s a very specific kind of frustration that comes with trying to get work done at home. One minute you’re answering emails, the next you’re folding laundry, unloading groceries or somehow deep into reorganizing a kitchen drawer you didn’t even plan on opening.

That’s exactly the problem The Office at Southold was created to solve.

Opening bookings July 1, The Office at Southold is a private, design forward workspace built for people who want a calm, distraction free place to actually focus, without the buzz of a crowded coffee shop or the awkwardness of a traditional coworking setup. Instead of shared desks and background chatter, each reservation gives guests private access to the entire 500 square foot studio space for their own work, meetings, brainstorming sessions or creative projects.

Whether you’re a remote worker needing a reset, a creative looking for uninterrupted time, or a small team trying to escape the endless cycle of Zoom calls from the kitchen counter, it feels intentionally designed for settling in and getting things done comfortably.
