More Than a Farm Stand 🧑🌾
Oregon Road Organics isn’t just slinging carrots and corn this year, they’re branching out. The Cutchogue farm, run by the Fabb family since 2019, is adding some fresh experiences to its Certified Organic lineup.
For the littles: Tiny Farmers is a hands-on adventure for ages 3–6 with veggie stamping, sensory play, and even a pint-sized farmers market. It happens every other Sunday through October.
For the grown-ups: Farmbody Pilates hits the fields on Aug. 20 with an open-air class led by Gab N Flow Pilates. Stay for a boutique pop-up and leave with a bag of organic produce.
Farm stand hours: Friday 12–6, Saturday 10–6, Sunday 10–5. Bring your tote bag.

Waterfront Zoning 🚤
Suffolk County just might throw a life preserver to our working waterfront. At an August 5 public hearing, lawmakers, fishermen, and oyster growers all agreed, if we keep selling docks to build McMansions, the local fishing and boat repair scene could sink faster than a leaky dinghy.
The fix? A new bill that lets commercial waterfront owners lock in their property’s marine use forever through conservation easements, think “no luxury condo here, ever.” There’s $9.5 million in the budget to make it happen, and it’s already getting farmland-preservation-level buzz (the same move that helped launch the North Fork wine industry).
The vote’s set for September 3.

Tee Pee Ted’s Returns 🏕️
Ted Strickroth, the camp’s legendary founder who passed last year after a two-decade fight with cancer, left behind a legacy that’s too good to let fade away. Enter Tony Valderrama, environmental educator, artist, and longtime Ted sidekick, who’s bringing the camp back for one week this August at the Mattituck Laurel Historical Society and Museums.
Think: kids learning the ropes of local plants and critters, mastering leadership skills, and getting down and dirty with wilderness survival. Oh, and don’t forget stepping inside a towering 25-foot teepee and crafting clay pots and jewelry the old-school way.
The camp runs August 18–22, mornings only 9:30-12:30. ($)
