A Little Chill in the Air 🍂
The days are getting a little shorter, and for the first time in a while, there’s that hint of a chill in the air once the sun goes down.
Which, as it turns out, is pretty good mussel weather.
At Little Fish, the Wild Fennel Mussels feel made for this exact stretch of the season, served in a white wine fennel sauce with 1610 sourdough ready to soak up every last bit.
Grab a table by the beach, order a glass of wine, and enjoy that sweet spot when the days still feel like summer but the evenings are starting to tell a different story.
Little Fish is open:
• Lunch Saturday & Sunday (12–3 PM)
• Dinner 7 Days a Week (5–9 PM)
The beach isn't just a summer thing.
Live music this week:
- Friday: George Tebbit 6-9 PM
- Saturday: Frank Palmeri 6-9 PM
Reservations are live at littlefishnofo.com or by calling (631) 765-8756
See you at the beach!

Rain Check 🌧️
Saturday’s Bug Light Classic Regatta was postponed, with the race now scheduled for Oct. 10.
The storm was doing more than rearranging weekend plans Saturday morning. 313 Southold customers were without power as of 11AM, while flooding was creeping onto roads in places like New Suffolk.
The regatta joins a growing list of North Fork plans bumped by the weather. Greenport’s Maritime Festival has moved to Oct. 17–18, while Mattituck High School’s memorial volleyball tournament honoring Kelly Pickering was also been postponed. ($)

Oysters Meet Bubbles 🦪
Sparkling Pointe’s annual Local Oyster Showcase returns Oct. 4, pairing six Long Island oyster farms with six East End restaurants, plus plenty of sparkling wine.
Guests will make their way through six stations, where oyster farmers will shuck their catch raw while local chefs take the same oyster and give it the grilled, roasted or fried treatment.
By the end, that’s 24 oysters and a six wine Sparkling Pointe flight.
This year’s lineup includes oysters from Peconic, Southold, East Moriches, Fire Island, Orient and Cutchogue, paired with dishes from restaurants including The Frisky Oyster, Hellenic, Little Fish and First & South.
There’s a little education mixed in, too. Guests can taste how oysters grown in different local waters develop their own flavors.

Running for Gavyn 🏃
The inaugural Gavyn’s Favorite 5K will take place Sunday, Oct. 18 at Orient Beach State Park, honoring the life of 17 year old Gavyn Avery Drago, a Mattituck High School senior and captain of the school’s track and cross-country teams.
Orient wasn’t chosen by accident. It was Gavyn’s favorite 5K course, flat, fast, surrounded by water and, most importantly to a competitive runner, a pretty good place to chase a personal record. Running became a huge part of Gavyn’s life, by 17, he had completed five half marathons and dreamed of eventually running the New York City Marathon.
Gavyn also lived with epilepsy and used his running to raise thousands of dollars for the Epilepsy Foundation. His parents, Marissa and Bryan Drago, have now established the Gavyn Avery Drago Foundation to continue that work. Race proceeds will support epilepsy research and help families of teens living with the neurological disease.
More than a fundraiser, the 5K is meant to feel like Gavyn: determined, joyful and always chasing the next goal.
