Peconic Star Returns 🚢

After a dramatic September mic drop, the Peconic Star is officially charting a comeback course. Just four months after announcing it was “out of business” the beloved Greenport party boat is prepping to hit the water again, with a planned return date of May 1, 2026.

Captain Speedy himself, Arnold Hubert, didn’t just ride out the storm, he upgraded. After selling one boat, he scooped up a brand new 80-foot vessel, and has been working with the Village of Greenport and the East End Seaport Museum to bring the operation back home to the Railroad Dock.

The village board is expected to vote on new five year license agreements at its January 22 meeting, clearing the way for not one, but two boats, including the shiny new Peconic Star V, which can hold up to 150 passengers. ($)

PCS Is Officially Home 🏫

Two years after moving into the former Our Lady of Mercy campus, Peconic Community School has officially gone from tenant to owner, locking in the 10-acre property as its forever home.

The purchase didn’t come easy. Raising $2.85 million took some serious hustle, a whole lot of community support, and a few creative financing moves along the way.

The former Sacred Heart Church is slated to become a performing arts space for students and the community. The rectory will house offices. The carriage house? A maker space meets art studio, complete with workbenches, tools, a kiln, and 3-D printers.

Peconic Community School started back in 2012 with just nine students in a borrowed room. Today, it serves about 100 kids from preschool through eighth grade, and now, it finally has the space to grow into the next century.
