Enclaves Gets Another Extension 🏨

The long delayed Enclaves Hotel project just received yet another six month extension from the Southold Town Planning Board, pushing its approval deadline to mid-July.

The $43.9 million plan, first introduced nearly a decade ago, calls for a 44-unit, two-story hotel with detached cottages, an event space, personal services areas, a pool, and 160 parking spaces. The proposal also includes converting an existing house into a 74-seat restaurant.

Originally drafted in 2016 and conditionally approved in 2023, Enclaves has faced years of delays, revisions, and community concern over traffic, noise, and environmental impacts.

The developer says the hotel would help meet ongoing demand for North Fork lodging, with construction expected to take 18–24 months once shovels hit the ground. ($)

Honoring Dr. King ❤️

The Southold Town Anti-Bias Task Force is inviting the community to come together for its 2026 Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 18, from 4–6 PM at the Southold Recreation Center.

This year’s theme “Mission Possible 2: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way” centers on Dr. King’s enduring vision of Kingian Nonviolence and the creation of a beloved community rooted in justice, compassion, and shared responsibility.

The program will feature a keynote address from Rev. Tykym Stallings of Greater Hood Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, along with the presentation of awards to winners of Southold Schools’ MLK essay and poster contest.

Foodie Friday 🍽

For this week’s Foodie Friday, we’re spotlighting some of our favorite North Fork (and nearby) spots that keep the good eats going all winter long. Just because it’s the off-season doesn’t mean you have to hibernate.

Wayside Market đŸĽŠ

Big news: Wayside is staying open through the winter this year, which means their delicious offerings are available all year long. They’re open Thursday–Saturday, but don’t sleep on what’s happening the other days of the week. They’ve got some fun things planned for their “off” days, so subscribing to their newsletter is the best way to stay in the know.

18 Bay đŸ

Freshly settled into their new Jamesport location, 18 Bay is officially a year-round favorite. They’ll be open Thursday–Monday, serving up the thoughtful, seasonal dishes we all love. A perfect spot for a cozy winter meal that still feels special.

A true North Fork classic. Love Lane Kitchen serves breakfast and lunch every day, plus dinner Friday–Monday. It’s comfort food season, and they do it best. Don’t miss:

aMano đŸ

A local staple since 2008 and a winter dining MVP. Open six days a week (closed Tuesdays) with something special happening almost every day:

-Happy Hour every day
-Wednesday Martini Madness
-Pasta Night every Thursday
-Prix Fixe Mondays & Wednesdays
-Sunday Funday with $10 apps
-Weekend Wine Down: half priced bottles all night Sunday

At this point, the hardest decision is choosing which night to go.

The Watershed đŸ”

Open six days a week (closed Wednesdays) and always reliable for great food and atmosphere. Mondays are the move thanks to their Monday Night Burger Special.

Aldo’s Coffee â˜•️

Your winter coffee stop just got even better. Aldo’s offers freshly roasted coffee and house made biscotti, and teaming up with Flavor Fork for grab and go bites that pair perfectly with whatever’s in your cup. Whether it’s a quick morning stop or a cozy midday caffeine break, Aldo’s has you covered.

Open Friday–Sunday through the winter, Léon 1909 is well worth the short trip. Set inside a beautifully restored historic building, this French inspired bistro serves up refined, seasonal dishes in a warm, intimate space. Elevated comfort food, excellent wine, and a dining experience that feels like a mini getaway.

Winter dining on the North Fork is alive and well, and these spots prove it. Save this list, make your reservations, and keep supporting the places that keep our community delicious all year long.
