Greenport’s Business Improvement District just launched a Dangerous Sidewalk Condition Registry, fancy name for a simple idea: if you see a sidewalk that looks like it’s out to trip you, report it. The form went live August 20 and lets you log cracked pavement, loose pavers, potholes, or any other hazard that might send someone flying.
Here’s how it works:
Drop the location (street address or landmark)
Pick the hazard type (crack, pothole, debris, etc.)
Add a quick description
Leave your name and contact info
The BID gets the report, the village gets the heads up, and ideally the road crew jumps in with a quick patch before it becomes a bigger project. ($)

North Fork Foodie Tour 🦪🍫🍷
Clear your Sunday, September 7, because 20 of the North Fork’s favorite farms, vineyards, breweries, and oyster shacks are opening their gates for the 19th annual Foodie Tour. Vineyard strolls, mushroom demos, chocolate tastings, and even cooking tips straight from local chefs.
And it’s not just about eating (though you’ll get plenty of tastes). It’s about learning how food happens. From beekeeping to coffee roasting to no-till farming, the speaker series at the Peconic Land Trust barn will cover it all.
Born in 2006 as a synagogue fundraiser, the Foodie Tour has grown into a signature North Fork tradition, powered by 80 volunteers and rooted in the Jewish concept of tikkun olam, repairing the earth. Today, it’s part festival, part field trip, and part love letter to the folks who farm, fish, and ferment here.

🏠 Greenport’s Blueprint Residents and business owners have been loud and clear: two things need fixing fast, housing shortages and those all-too-familiar empty storefronts. ($)
📜 Zoning Rewrite Picks up Steam Town officials say a full draft of the overhaul should land with the Town Board by early October, and it’s a big deal: the rewrite touches everything from where you can build to how big, and what counts as “too big.”

Foodie Friday 🍽
Some places don’t need an introduction, and North Fork Roasting Company is one of them. It’s the kind of spot everyone already knows and loves, the definition of a North Fork staple. Great coffee? Check. Great food? Double check. It’s no secret, no hidden gem, just consistently excellent, and that’s exactly why it deserves the spotlight.
If you’ve been, you get it. If you haven’t, here’s your sign to fix that ASAP. After all, we’ve heard this newsletter pairs best with a cup of coffee and something tasty on the side.
NoFo RoCo ☕️🥐
You ever push through a busy morning without coffee… and then the caffeine headache smacks you like a wake-up call you should’ve seen coming? Yeah, we had one of those. The cure was obvious: North Fork Roasting Company.
First order of business: the Bee Sting. For the uninitiated, it’s espresso, honey, and steamed almond milk. It’s smooth, a little nutty, just sweet enough, and the kind of drink that convinces your brain it can, in fact, function again.. And no, we don’t just get it because we’re The Buzz, it’s simply a great way to start the day.
Next up: the Brunch Sandwich. Picture this, smoked ham, sharp cheddar, a fried egg, peppery arugula, and apricot Dijon all stacked inside a flaky croissant. Savory, salty, a touch of sweet. Exactly what you want when you realize coffee alone isn’t going to cut it.
We parked ourselves at an outdoor table, perfect for watching the cars roll by and indulging in that timeless sport: people-watching.
Pro Tip: Get your Bee Sting + Brunch Sandwich to go and take it to the beach. Coffee, food, bay breeze, that’s peak North Fork living.
Nothing in this section is sponsored. They’re just fun things you need to know. I’ll always let you know when something is sponsored
