Port of Egypt Sells 🛥️

After more than 80 years in the same family, Port of Egypt Marine is entering a new chapter.

The longtime Southold marina has been sold to Hinckley Yachts, a Maine based builder known for its classic, high end boats and nearly 100 year history in the industry.

For locals and longtime slipholders, the immediate takeaway is simple: not much is changing (for now). The Port of Egypt name is staying, the restaurant A Lure remains, and existing dockage for the season is untouched.

Behind the scenes, though, there’s a bigger shift underway. Hinckley plans to invest heavily in the property, including converting a 24,000 square foot cold storage building into heated, year round storage and expanding service capabilities with more advanced tech and maintenance offerings.

The Lieblein family, who founded the marina as a fishing station back in 1946, aren’t disappearing either they’ll stay involved as partners.

Greenport in Bloom 🌸

Every spring, Greenport turns a little pink, but this year, it’s turning that moment into a full on month.

Greenport in Bloom” is a newly expanded, five week celebration built around the village’s 300+ cherry blossom trees, stretching across May with events, local promotions, and cultural programming woven throughout town.

It kicks off May 2 with the “Run for the Petals” 5K, rolls into a Mother’s Day weekend with a new guided Petal Tour, and later shifts into cultural programming, including a kids event inspired by the Japanese tradition of hanami and a closing performance from Taiko drummers.

Throughout the month, shops and restaurants lean in with blossom themed food, drinks, and retail, all tied together by the Petal Tour map, designed to get people wandering through the village.

With multiple varieties of cherry trees blooming at different points, the idea is simple: show up at any point in May, and you’ll likely catch some version of peak pink.

Party Like It’s 1999 🎉

Greenport PTO is bringing back the 90s with The 90s Rewind Fundraiser. An adults only night that leans all the way into the decade (yes, flannel counts as formal). It’s their second annual “field trip fundraiser,” which is really just a great excuse to get out, dress up, and pretend it’s 1999 again.

Enjoy a full night of music, food, and the kind of nostalgic chaos that happens when you put a room full of adults in denim, neon, and throwback playlists. It’s 21+, so no kids just a proper night out with your friends who definitely still remember their AIM away message.

Behind it all, it’s a fundraiser that goes right back into the school community, helping make those extra experiences happen for local students.

So dig out the old school fits, make a plan with your crew, and go be part of it.

Animal of The Week

Meet Tango 🐾

Meet Tango, some dogs walk into a room, Tango enters it light on his feet, tail in motion, doing his own version of a happy little prance like the world is his stage. At just one year old, this striking red hound mix has that classic hound curiosity.

Tango is exactly what you’d expect from a hound in the best way: nose to the ground, always ready to investigate, explore, and turn a simple walk into a full on adventure. He loves a good treat hunt, lives for outdoor time, and brings an easy, joyful energy wherever he goes. But beyond the sniffing and exploring, he’s a total softie, gentle, affectionate, and deeply loyal to the people who spend time with him. He gets along well with other dogs, has experience with kids, and has already won over plenty of volunteers.

Tango is ready for his next chapter, one where he gets to fully settle in, trust, and be someone’s constant companion. If you’re looking for a dog with personality, heart, and just the right amount of flair, Tango might be your perfect match. Come meet him, he’s ready when you are.

Your brain deserves more than scrolling and skimming. Each week we’ll hit you with one question designed to make you pause, scratch your head, and maybe argue with whoever’s sitting next to you. Think of it as a quick mental pit stop: a chance to flex your random knowledge, test your memory, or finally use that obscure fact you learned in 7th grade.
