The Lowdown
Two Ghost Houses, One Big Problem đď¸
Mattituckâs got a bit of a haunted house problem, but not the fun, Halloween kind. Two abandoned properties on New Suffolk Avenue (580 and 1120, if you're curious) have been sitting vacant long enough to attract vandals, squatters, and a whole lot of neighbor frustration.
The Southold Town Board is on it. Theyâve held public hearings and pulled out Chapter 100 of the town code, which basically says: clean it up or we will. But hereâs the catchâtracking down absentee owners isnât exactly easy. Some cleanup has started, but with major structural issues still looming, the townâs now weighing its optionsâŚincluding breaking out the bulldozers. ($)

Cinco de Mayo CallsâThese North Fork Margs Answer
The North Fork might be known for its wine, but letâs not sleep on its salt-rimmed, lime-laced underdog: the margarita.
Whether you like yours classic, spicy, or fruit-forward, thereâs a glass (or pitcher) with your name on it somewhere on the North Fork. Just in time for Cinco de Mayoâor really any sunny afternoonâwe went hunting for the best margaritas.. Here's where to sip the standouts.
đš Lucharitos- Classico Margarita Made with Sauza Silver, triple sec, a splash of orange, and their house-made mix, this marg is a sweetieâliterally. Itâs bright, fresh, and definitely easy sipping, but if you like your tequila to punch back a little, this might feel more like a handshake. A solid pick for smooth marg fans, but the citrus-to-tequila balance could use a little extra spice. Still, you canât be mad at a marg that looks this good.
đš SeĂąor Taco- Emilyâs Fresh Skinny Margarita Looking for a margarita that hits all the right notes without the sugar crash? Then this one is for you. This bright and zippy sip is all about simplicityâpremium tequila, fresh lime, a touch of agave, and zero frills. Itâs crisp, clean, and lets the citrus shine. Bonus: bartender Emily served it up with a smile and a solid rec. Weâd go back just for her.
đš Little Fish- Spicy Fresh Margarita Spice lovers, this oneâs calling your name. This bold, beautiful margâmade with Maestro Dobel Cristalino Reposado, Grand Marnier, and fresh lime, brings the heat without losing its cool. The tajĂn rim kicks things off with a smoky, spicy punch, then it smooths out into citrusy, top-shelf goodness. Balanced, vibrant, and seriously elevated. This isnât your average beach bar marg.
đš Casa Amigos- Blood Orange Margarita Itâs a stunnerâbright, citrusy, and made with fresh blood orange and lime juice. No heavy sweetness, no spicy drama. Just a smooth, slightly sweet sip that goes down way too easy. Perfect for when you want to keep things light, fruity, and effortlessly cool.
đš Black Llama Bar- Margarita Light, crisp, and perfectly balanced, itâs the kind of sip that lets premium tequila do the talking, with just enough citrusy kick to keep things interesting. Smooth finish, zero sugar bomb. Bonus: itâs served in a sleek, boujie setting that makes every sip feel like a vibe. If youâre after a margarita thatâs refreshing without trying too hard, this is your new go-to.
