Good Hair Days Start Here 💇‍♀️

Need a trim, a tone, or just a good ol’ fashioned blowout? Head to Main Roots Salon in Southold, where great hair and good vibes go hand in hand.

This cozy, modern spot is owned by local hairstylist Kerry Conrardy, who opened the salon with one goal: make great hair feel easy and fun.

Specialties include:
– Blowouts that actually last
– Sunkissed highlights and bold color
– Curly cuts, braids, and kid-friendly trims
– A vibe that’s relaxed, not rushed

Whether you’re going full glam or just need a touch-up before your wine tasting weekend, they’ve got you. And the best part? The vibe’s as fresh as your post-cut mirror selfie.

Brady Rymer Hits the Big Screen 🎸

Southold’s own Brady Rymer has one heck of a musical résumé: major label bass player (From Good Homes), three-time Grammy nominee in the family music scene, and now…documentary star.

Starting August 8, the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in Stony Brook is throwing a Music Documentary Film Festival. On August 10, Rymer’s story hits the screen in From Good Homes: Charlie Loves Our Band.

After starting a family, Rymer traded tour buses for preschool pick-ups and formed The Little Band That Could, a kid-friendly crew now celebrating 25 years (and 14 albums) of feel-good music.

Kicks for a Cause ⚽️

Sunday was one for the books at Aldrich Lane Soccer Fields. The second annual U.S. National Amputee Soccer fundraiser brought the heat and the heart with a full day of sports and community.

The day kicked off with the Aldrich Sports League Summer Sunday soccer playoffs and a high-energy 3v3 “King of the Court” basketball tourney. But the main event? A no-holds-barred exhibition match where the U.S. National Amputee Soccer team shut out the locals 11-0.

Every raffle ticket, burger bite, and merch purchase went straight to the American Amputee Soccer Association. Big events are coming up: the U.S. National Cup in Boston this September and the World Cup in Costa Rica next August.

From Bourbon Street to Borghese 🎷

The Quantum Leap Music Festival is teleporting back to Borghese Vineyard from August 14–17 and it's bringing the soul of New Orleans with it.

If you missed the inaugural fest last year, here’s your second chance to catch a jazz lineup so good it might bend space and time (literally, the festival’s name is inspired by quantum physics).

Curated by Donald Harrison, NEA Jazz Master and saxophone sorcerer, this four-day groovefest features Grammy winners and New Orleans legends like CJ Chenier, Cyril Neville, and the Preservation Hall Legacy Band. Harrison’s vision? Fuse the magic of musical improvisation with the mysteries of the universe.

Dog of The Week

Violet is a 2.5-year-old half Australian Blue Heeler, half Beagle sweetheart with a big heart and an even bigger cuddle quota. At 35 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion for someone who loves affection, and doesn’t mind a little fence patrol duty.

She’s housebroken, respectful of furniture and shoes, and up-to-date on all her shots. While she may give the side-eye to passersby at the door or window (hey, someone’s gotta keep the place secure), Violet is happiest lounging in the yard, sniffing the breeze, and soaking up the sun.

Beach walks? She’s in. Cozy days at home? Even better.

If you’re ready for a loyal, loving companion who’s equal parts snuggler and sentry, give Jade a call at 808-936-0040. Violet’s waiting.
