The Lowdown
Southold’s political scene is heating up 🔥
Election season is kicking off, and both parties have revealed their picks for the three open Town Board seats this November.
Meet the Democratic Slate:
🔹 Brian Mealy: The incumbent councilman is seeking a second term. A lifelong Mattituck resident, he’s served on the Mattituck-Cutchogue school board and Eastern Suffolk BOCES board.
🔹 Alexa Suess: A fresh face on the political scene, nominated by the Democratic Committee.
🔹 Kate Stevens: Another newcomer stepping up to run for a seat on the board.
These nominations come as Councilman Greg Doroski eyes a Suffolk County Legislature run and Councilwoman Louisa Evans plans to retire.
On the Republican Side:
🔸 Christopher Talbot: A former council member looking to return to the board.
🔸 Nicholas Planamento: A local real estate broker ready to bring his expertise to town leadership.
The GOP says more candidate announcements are coming soon.
With both seasoned leaders and political newcomers in the mix, this election will help shape Southold’s future. Let the race begin! ($)

Master magicians Jim Vines and Carl Mercurio are ready to blow your mind with 75 minutes of magic, mind-reading, comedy, and grand illusions that’ll leave you wondering what’s real. And yes, audience participation is part of the fun.
