One Woman Lists for $9.5M 🍷

After more than two decades of hands on grape growing and quietly building one of the North Fork’s most respected wine brands, the mother-daughter team behind One Woman Wines & Vineyards is ready to pass the torch.

Claudia and Gabriella Purita have officially listed their 27-acre Southold property for $9.5 million a move that comes just over a year after debuting their striking 2,600 square-foot tasting barn, café and occasional live music venue.

What started in 2004 with Claudia planting grapevines, and opening a tiny tasting room in 2009, grew into a full-scale operation with 16 acres of sustainably farmed vines, a 13,000-square-foot production facility, distilling equipment, storage barns, workforce housing approvals and even a residential building lot.

Coach Pick’s Lasting Impact 🏐

The Mattituck community is mourning the loss of Kelly Pickering “Coach Pick” to generations of students, who passed on Feb. 15 at age 49.

For many seniors, one memory captures who she was.

After Mattituck fell to Bayport-Blue Point in the Suffolk County Class B finals last November, a loss that ended the season and the seniors’ high school careers, Pickering skipped her usual seat up front on the bus. Instead, she sat in the back with her players. There were hugs. There were tears. And there was Coach Pick, steady and present.

On the court, she was tough. Demanding. The kind of coach who pushed setters and hitters to be sharper, faster, better. Off the court, she was a counselor in every sense of the word, someone students could walk into an office and talk to about anything.

She was named Suffolk County Girls Volleyball Coach of the Year in December, voted on by her peers. But students say her real legacy wasn’t the awards. It was the open door. The way she showed up. The way she made athletes, and non-athletes, feel seen.

A pop-up fundraiser for her family will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Hamptons Field House in Riverhead. Tickets are $40, with proceeds going directly to her wife and young son. ($)

Local Spotlight

Comeback in Motion 🦪

For more than three weeks, the bay locked up solid, and Little Ram Oysters felt it in a big way. Their boat was frozen in. Ice sheets did a number on engines, cages, and buoys. More than 30% of their crop took a hit. And just when things were supposed to loosen up? Cue another two feet of snow.

Not exactly ideal oyster weather.

Little Ram getting proactive, they’re launching The Icebreaker Campaign, a community powered push to rebuild, reseed, and come back stronger the moment the water opens. The goal isn’t just recovery. It’s reinforcement for what comes next on the bay.

Through the campaign, supporters can adopt part of the farm and directly help fund new cages, replacement gear, engine repairs, and fresh seed for the upcoming season.

And because Little Ram knows how to say thank you properly, every supporter will be invited this summer to The Icebreaker, an exclusive private waterfront celebration where the team will raise a glass (and, presumably, a few oysters) to the next chapter.
