Southold YMCA šŸ’¬

Southold might be getting its very own YMCA, but first, organizers want to know if the community’s actually into it. About 75 locals packed Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Nov. 14 to kick around ideas.

YMCA consultant Linda Schrieber made one thing crystal clear: a local Y isn’t here to compete with CAST, the libraries, or the rec department. It’s here to be a ā€œthird spaceā€ the place you go to recharge, meet people, and have a conversation that doesn’t involve texting with your thumbs.

Of course, dreams need dollars. Building and sustaining a YMCA will take serious fundraising and public and private partnerships. The committee says this was just the first step, with plenty more meetings and opinions needed. ($)

Art Inspired Wines šŸ·

What do you get when you mix North Fork wine, a dash of artistry, and a whole lot of creative chemistry? The newest collab between RGNY and James Lane Post

The partnership started casually enough at an RGNY blending event at Aldo’s in Greenport, where the James Lane Post team whipped up their own ā€œJames Lane Blend.ā€ One spark turned into a full-on project, and a few months later: two limited-edition wines that look as good as they taste.

Each bottle is wrapped in dreamy collage art from Verona PeƱalba, it’s the kind of bottle you low key keep even after the wine is gone.

Animal of The Week

Meet Sparrow šŸ¾

Sparrow is a stunning young adult with a charming black and white ā€œcow printā€ coat and a personality that’s equal parts confidence and sweetness. True to her independent spirit, she likes to size up new situations on her own terms, but once she decides you’re worthy? It’s all over. Sparrow transforms into an affectionate lovebug, weaving around your legs, offering headbutts, and curling up right beside you.

Playful and athletic, she lights up at the sight of a laser pointer or an interactive toy, showing off her pounce skills like a cat in her prime. She’s also a ā€œone-cat kind of galā€ who thrives when she’s the star of the show, making her an excellent match for a home where she can have all the love and spotlight to herself.

If you’re looking for a confident, loyal, and endlessly charming companion, Sparrow is ready to claim her spot in your heart, and on your couch.

Your brain deserves more than scrolling and skimming. Each week we’ll hit you with one question designed to make you pause, scratch your head, and maybe argue with whoever’s sitting next to you. Think of it as a quick mental pit stop: a chance to flex your random knowledge, test your memory, or finally use that obscure fact you learned in 7th grade.

Local Spotlight

Snail of Approval: Lombardi’s Love Lane Market 🐌

Lombardi’s Love Lane Market has officially been named a 2025 Snail of Approval recipient.

If you’ve ever walked into Lombardi’s, you already know the vibe. The catering spreads look straight out of a magazine, and the ingredients whisper ā€œI was grown right down the road.ā€

At the helm is Lauren Lombardi, the chef, entrepreneur, and all-around culinary force who built this market on seasonal cooking, local partnerships, and the belief that good food is meant to bring people together.

Lombardi’s doesn’t just serve the community; they show up for it, supporting local causes, lifting up their neighbors, and weaving themselves into the fabric of the North Fork in all the best ways.

The Snail of Approval isn’t just about food; it’s about impact. And Lombardi’s hits every mark: quality, creativity, local love, and everyday heart.

East End Jazz šŸŽ·

The Jamesport Meeting House is turning up the holiday magic this season with a concert that’s anything but ordinary. On Saturday, December 6, East End Jazz is taking over the historic space for ā€œHoliday Songs Around the World: A Global Music Celebration,ā€ and this is not your average jingle bell jam session.

Led by the wildly talented Iris Ornig, the musicians of East End Jazz will whisk the audience on a musical trip across continents, blending global holiday and winter traditions with the smooth, spirited energy of jazz. Think classic tunes you know by heart, unexpected gems you’ve never heard before, and a whole lot of festive flair.
