Mondays at Little Fish 🌮

Mondays don’t usually get much love. At Little Fish, they kind of steal the show.

If you’ve been, you know the vibe: a little looser, a little more local, and “let’s grab a quick bite” turns into “let’s have one more round” as the sun drops over Kenney’s Beach.

It’s the night where you can get a table, settle in, and do it right, start with a Caesar, add a few tuna tartare taquitos for the table, and let the evening go a bit longer than planned. Monday might be the best night of the week.

And starting in May, there’s even more reason to work Little Fish into your weekly rotation:

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: Dinner service expands, more nights to sneak in a beachside meal.

  • Sundays: A new Midday Menu: lunch forward, a few brunch style favorites, the same signature Little Fish atmosphere and food that keeps the table ordering one more thing.

Little Fish is open Friday through Monday from 5–9 PM with live music.
- Friday: Gene Casey 6-9 PM
- Saturday: Jay Shepard 6-9 PM

Reservations are live at littlefishnofo.com or by calling (631) 765-8756, and if opening weekend was any indication, you’ll want to lock that in.

The Lowdown

Strong’s Expands Its Fleet 🛥️

One of the East End’s biggest marine players just added some serious horsepower.

Mattituck based Strong’s Marine is now carrying Grady-White Boats on the North Fork for the first time, a move that signals both growth and a shifting local marina landscape.

For Strong’s, this isn’t a brand swap, it’s an addition. The timing isn’t random either. The marina world has been consolidating fast over the past decade, and this move positions Strong’s to stay competitive as bigger players continue to reshape the industry. ($)

Little Goods 🧸

Tucked into a corner of touchGOODS, there’s a small room that’s easy to miss.

Little Goods” lives up to its name: a compact, design forward mix of nursery pieces, lighting, gifts, and home accents.

It started with “Little Lights,” brought in by owner Norine Pennacchia as an extension of the shop’s handmade lighting collection, from there, it grew.

What you’ll find: a curated mix of clothing, seasonal finds, nursery decor, and giftable pieces that lean warm, practical, and just a little elevated.

New Suffolk Build Gets a No 🏠

After months of back and forth and more than a few strongly worded letters, Southold Town Trustees officially shut the door, for now, on a proposed waterfront home in New Suffolk.

The plan: a scaled down, two story house on First Street, complete with a modern septic system and a heavy dose of native plantings. On paper, it checked a lot of boxes. In practice, it was still sitting too close to the wetlands for comfort.

Trustees kept coming back to the same issue: distance. The house and septic system both missed the required 100-foot setback by a wide margin, and on a lot this tight, that’s not something you can finesse.

Neighbors were split. Some saw a longtime owner trying to make reasonable use of his land. Others saw a fragile shoreline taking another hit.

The trustees? They stuck to the code. And the code said no.

Mattituck Budget 💰

The Mattituck-Cutchogue School District is proposing a $48.3 million budget for 2026–27.

The plan comes with a 2.63% tax levy increase, the lowest the district has seen in years, continuing a steady downward trend from prior budgets hovering closer to 3%. For homeowners, that means a relatively modest bump, though the exact hit depends on your property assessment.

The usual pressures are still doing their thing. Health insurance is climbing up to $9.4 million, salaries remain the largest slice at $22.3 million, and transportation costs are inching up.

Enrollment, meanwhile, keeps trending down, off more than a third over the past decade, which has quietly fueled bigger conversations about shared services and even potential consolidation across North Fork districts. ($)

Local Spotlight

Fashion Workshops 👗

There’s something especially fun about a workshop that lets people leave with more than just a good time. A little inspiration, a little new skill, maybe even something beautiful they made themselves. That’s the idea behind CAST’s Fashion Workshop Series, where creativity and self expression take center stage in a way that’s both stylish and hands-on.

Designed for ages 15+, the series brings a mix of fashion focused experiences to CAST this spring, starting April 23 with gutta silk technique painting led by Juana Huertas. From there, things move into fashion illustration with Nancy Benzenberg on April 30, before wrapping with a two part sewing workshop on May 7 and May 14 taught by Danny Coello. It’s the kind of lineup that’s equally appealing to someone who already loves design and someone who’s just been waiting for the right excuse to try something new.
