North Fork Supper Club 🍽️

Winter on the North Fork can feel a little long, but a new locals first dining club is giving us all a reason to get out of the house.

Launched in October 2025 by Southold resident Christie Moore, the North Fork Supper Club is a membership program designed specifically for year round North Forkers. The idea? Help local restaurants fill seats on slower nights while giving full time residents some dining out perks. Win-win.

For $40 a year with proof you actually live here, members score exclusive deals at a growing list of North Fork restaurants. The offers vary by restaurant and day, and members get a weekly email serving up all the latest goodies.

Even better? A portion of each membership fee goes back to local farms that keep our plates fresh.

Mercury Records Deal 🎹

Orient native Franklin Mastrangelo is officially taking his talents on the road, and onto the national stage. The Greenport High School grad has signed a multi-album deal with Mercury Records and is heading to Nashville to chase music full time under the name Frank Mastra.

If you’ve ever scrolled past a video of a guy absolutely pouring his soul into a piano ballad on TikTok, there’s a decent chance it was Frank. What started as posting music online quickly snowballed into viral videos, nearly 2 million views, celebrity comments, and even attention from American Idol producers.

Things moved fast from there. A manager slid into his DMs, labels started calling, and before long Mercury Records was flying him around to write and record with top musicians. Three days before his 21st birthday, the deal was signed. No big deal or anything. ($)

North Fork in Gold Leaf 🚒

Chances are, if you’ve driven around the North Fork for more than five minutes, you’ve passed a sign touched by Jim Fetten, even if you didn’t know it at the time. Since 1969, Fetten has been quietly shaping the look of our towns, businesses, and firehouses, one brushstroke and gold leaf at a time.

Originally on track to become an art teacher, Fetten took a detour after college and leaned fully into sign painting. After working at sign shops across Long Island, he eventually put down roots on the North Fork, opening North Fork Signs in Cutchogue.

When computers started changing the sign game in the ’80s, Fetten didn’t compete, he specialized. Finding his calling in gold-leaf gilding on fire trucks and emergency vehicles. Today, he’s the go-to artist for nearly every North Fork fire department.

Top Stories From The Week 📖

🏛️ A New Term Begins There were plenty of proud smiles in the room as 11 Southold Town leaders elected last November were officially sworn in on January 2 at the Peconic Lane Recreation Center.

🍇 New Vineyard Chris Ariens spent years telling other people’s stories, now he’s planting his own. One year ago, the longtime journalist bought a beautifully maintained 20-acre vineyard on Tuthills Lane in Jamesport, officially launching Theo Vineyard.

🧑‍🍳 Cooking The Homestead Way Larry Kaiser calls himself a farm chef, meaning the farm decides what’s cooking. Blemished tomatoes turn into marinara. Extra squash becomes ravioli filling. A jalapeño surplus? That’s how Tractor Fuel hot sauce happened. Nothing gets tossed, it just gets transformed.

🌮 Casa Amigos Is Back After more than a decade, Mexican food is officially returning to Greenport’s Third Street, as Casa Amigos Restaurante prepares to open later this month in the former Meson Ole space at 131 Third St.

Honor Those Who Serve 🇺🇸

The Southold Town Salutes banner program is now open for sponsorship, and it’s a heartfelt way for the community to recognize the Veterans and active service members who have given so much.

In partnership with the Town of Southold, the Auxiliary of Griswold Terry Glover American Legion Post 803 will once again line Main Road in Southold with tribute banners beginning in May. Each banner is personalized with a photo, name, and branch of service, honoring a specific Veteran, active-duty service member, or member of the Reserve or National Guard.

Community members are invited to sponsor a banner in honor of a loved one, creating a visible reminder of gratitude that the entire town can share. The banners will hang from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, turning a walk or drive through Southold into a moment of reflection and appreciation.

Nothing in this section is sponsored. They’re just fun things you need to know. I’ll always let you know when something is sponsored
