Greenportās trustees arenāt waiting around anymore. At last Thursday nightās work session, they pushed Mayor Kevin Stuessi to finally move on the long-delayed Mitchell Park bulkhead repairs.
Hereās the deal:
-16 months after snagging a $3M federal grant, parts of the bulkhead are still crumbling.
-Trustee Mary Bess Phillips wants emergency DEC permits to shore up the battered railroad dock.
-Thereās also an electrical volt box teetering dangerously close to the harbor. Salt water + electricity = not a good mix.
On another note, rumor control time. The Peconic Star Fleet wasnāt forced out of Greenport. Their lease is still good through May 2026.
Capt. āSpeedyā Hubert decided to sell the boats for his own reasons. Village officials made it clear: no one pulled their lease. But they do agree the railroad dock is in bad shape, and fixing it is now top priority.

Local Spotlight
Bridge Lane Gets the Doug Geed Treatment š·
If you need a reminder of why the North Fork is the place to be, Doug Geed just handed it to you on a silver (wine) tray. In last weekās Out East episode, he spent the day at Bridge Lane in Mattituck, the tasting room known for serving wine by the bottle, box, can, and yes⦠even the keg.
Doug takes viewers behind the scenes of what makes Bridge Lane such a local favorite. He chats with the team, and paints the perfect picture of a lazy afternoon: sunshine, a glass (or can) in hand, and friends playing lawn games nearby. Itās a spot that feels equal parts winery, backyard hangout, and community gathering space.
The episode highlights how Bridge Lane isnāt just about wine, itās about connection.
