Summer Tastes Better at Little Fish 🌅

There are certain foods that just taste better by the water.

Maybe it's the salt air. Maybe it's the extra hour of daylight. Or maybe it's the fact that once summer starts creeping in, nobody wants to be anywhere else.

At Little Fish, beachside season is fully on.

The outdoor tables are back in rhythm, live music drifts through the evening air, and the menu is made for long evenings by the Beach.

Start with local oysters topped with charred pineapple relish. Add an order of day boat catch ceviche with homemade tortilla chips. Then try not to fight over the last spicy tuna tartare taquito.

Add a cold drink, a few friends, and a sunset over the water, and you've got yourself a picture perfect day.

Little Fish is now open for:

  • Dinner 7 Days a Week (5–9 PM)

  • Lunch Saturday & Sunday (12–3 PM)

Live music this week:
- Wednesday: The Libations 6-9 PM
- Friday: Frank Palmeri 6-9 PM
- Saturday: Jay Shepard 6-9 PM

Reservations are live at littlefishnofo.com or by calling (631) 765-8756

See you at the beach!

Emergency Care Upgrade 🚑

For years, a suspected stroke on the North Fork or Shelter Island often meant a long trip to Riverhead, Southampton, or even Stony Brook before treatment could begin.

That has changed.

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport officially celebrated the opening of its new Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center, giving local residents access to specialized stroke care much closer to home.

Hospital leaders say the difference could be lifesaving. Instead of a 35 to 45 minute ride west, often longer during summer traffic, many patients can now reach stroke treatment in as little as 10 to 15 minutes.

The hospital also unveiled a new Mobile Stroke Unit, essentially bringing advanced stroke diagnostics and treatment capabilities directly to patients before they even arrive at the hospital.

Hospital officials pointed to the East End's aging population as a major reason for the investment, noting that roughly 40% of local residents are 65 or older, the age group most at risk for stroke.

New Beach Hangout 🏖

Third Culture Club officially soft opened on June 5, bringing a mix of globally inspired food, local goods, art workshops and community programming to one of the North Fork's most scenic spots.

The project comes from Aquebogue native Cass Dotzel, whose background spans textile design, hospitality and food. If the name sounds familiar, it's an extension of her art brand W.A.Y.F. (Where Are You From), inspired by the idea of a "third culture" people whose identity is shaped by multiple cultural influences.

That influence shows up everywhere, especially on the menu.

Inside, visitors will find a small boutique stocked with local snacks, artisan goods and grab and go provisions for beachgoers firing up the park's grills.

The space won't stop at food. Starting in July, Dotzel plans to host hands on art workshops covering everything from lino printing to color theory, with projects ranging from tote bags to bandanas and button down shirts.

More is already in the works, too. Beach friendly cocktails, fitness classes and additional live programming are expected later this summer alongside the park's existing Tuesday night music series.

A Glove Stitched With a Father's Love ⚾️

Some gifts are bigger than what comes in the box.

For 8 year-old Clayton Rolle, that gift arrived in the form of a custom baseball glove stitched with two simple words: "Love, Daddy" written in the actual handwriting of his father, Matthew Rolle, who passed away from cancer in 2021.

Baseball was always their thing.

Mattituck native Matthew Rolle was an accomplished player, earning All County and MVP honors at Mattituck High School before continuing his career at Lewis University. Long before Clayton could fully understand the game, he was tagging along to his dad's softball games, swinging a plastic bat and running the bases after every game.

Wanting to create something meaningful, Clayton's mother Haley and stepfather Deric partnered with Signature Diamond Gloves to design a one of a kind glove honoring his father. Along with the handwritten message, the glove includes Matthew's birth date, the date of his passing, his No. 34 and angel wing details.

More than baseball equipment, the glove serves as a reminder that every time Clayton steps onto the field, he carries a piece of his father with him.
