Water Lines 💧

Riverhead Town’s hosting a public forum next Wednesday, August 13 and if you like pipelines, legal drama, or just knowing what’s going on under your roads, you’ll want to be there.

The Suffolk County Water Authority is proposing an 8.5-mile, 24-inch North Fork Pipeline that would run through Riverhead from Flanders to Southold. Bonus: a pumping station in Jamesport.

At the forum, you’ll hear about how this might affect the town, plus something called the Monroe Balancing Test. Sounds fancy, but it’s basically a legal checklist to decide if the project can bypass local zoning rules.

Expect a panel of town officials and experts to break it all down, including Councilman Bob Kern, Water District Superintendent Frank Mancini, and environmental consultant Jeffrey Seeman.

35 Years of Horsepower 🚘

Start your engines, the 35th annual Southold Troop 6 Car Show is back on Saturday, August 30 at the Peconic Lane Community Center.

Expect 150+ antique, classic, custom, and collector cars shining in the sun. Judges will hand out 75 trophies, and the Scouts themselves will pick their top three rides for the beloved Scouts’ Choice Awards.

This isn’t just a car show, it’s an all-hands-on-deck fundraiser for the troop. Scouts are up at 7 AM, running the show start to finish to help fund their activities, some trips can cost up to $2K per Scout. ($)

Foodie Friday 🍽

Dough-licious Sisters 🥖

What do you get when two stay-at-home moms, a shared family sourdough obsession, and a whole lot of flour collide? You get Dough-licious Sisters, a home bakery born in 2024 out of love, nostalgia, and the desperate need to replace preservative-packed supermarket bread.

Meet Amanda and Taylor: sisters, best friends, and now the North Fork’s unofficial sourdough queens. Raised on their grandmother’s fresh pies, cookies, and Sunday breads, the sisters decided to carry on the tradition, starting in their own kitchens. What began as baking for their families turned into baking for everyone’s families, thanks to a chorus of friends insisting they start a home bakery.

Their entire lineup is sourdough-based (yes, even the cookies). From English muffins and focaccia to scones and rustic loaves, everything is made with love and a starter that's practically family at this point.

Despite only baking Thursdays and Fridays, their week is fully loaded with shopping, prepping, proofing, and parenting. Because why not raise tiny humans and artisan carbs at the same time?

We recently had the chance to try a few of their baked goods, and let’s just say, they’re the kind of treats that make you question every grocery store decision you’ve ever made. The bread? Toasted heaven. The English muffins? Perfect for an egg sandwich. And don’t even get us started on the cookies: chewy, golden magic.

You can find them every Friday at Latham’s Farm Stand in Orient from 2–5 PM and at Hellenic’s East End Market on Saturdays from 9–12. Custom orders are welcome and can be ready just in time for your weekend spread.

Follow them on Instagram for schedule updates, menus, and the occasional sisterly shenanigans.

Nothing in this section is sponsored. They’re just fun things you need to know. I’ll always let you know when something is sponsored
