New Southold Sales Record š
Old Field Vineyard has officially become the most expensive single lot sale in Southold Town history, closing last week for $12.35 million after just 48 days on the market. The deal tops the previous high-water mark set in Cutchogue only months ago.
The transaction was handled by Bridget Elkin, who has now represented the buyers or sellers in the townās top three single lot sales within the past year.
She said many interested parties werenāt dreaming about development, they were thinking about preservation. Strict zoning on the property limits how much could ever be built there, and the new ownerās early questions reportedly focused on who would continue caring for the vines and trees.
The 21 acre stretch along the Peconic Bay has long been more than a vineyard. For decades, it served as a backdrop for weddings, parties, movie nights, and even Hollywood, scenes from The Romantics were filmed on the property.

Silversmithās Corner Concerts š¶
Summer evenings at Silversmithās Corner in Southold have a rhythm all their own, lawn chairs unfolding, picnic blankets claiming their turf, neighbors chatting as the sun drops lower and the first notes float into the air.
And now, the concert series that has become a midweek ritual for so many is preparing for a leadership change.
After guiding the beloved Wednesday night tradition for the past decade, Bob Blank, is passing the baton to fellow musician and Southold resident Darlene āDarceyā Fulda, who will step in as president starting with the 2026 season.
When Blank took over in 2016, he saw an opportunity to elevate the program. Drawing on his network and plenty of determination, he brought in professional performers, boosted fundraising, and helped grow the crowds into the lively, music-loving gatherings people know today.
Fulda knows that energy well. Sheās been performing in the series for eight years with her band, Darcey & The Jazz Edge, and has spent more than two decades making music across the East End. ($)

Last weekend, Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. packed the house for its annual chili cook-off, drawing locals, visitors, and plenty of serious tasters ready to cast their votes. With tokens in hand and spoons at the ready, the crowd moved from table to table sampling recipes that ranged from classic comfort to bold, smoky twists.
When the votes were counted, Ellenās on Front took top honors among restaurants, while the Southold Fire Department claimed the firehouse crown. Both teams also won over the peopleās choice vote.
At Ellenās, Chef Jennie Werts built her chili around layers of flavor, using dried chilies for smokiness and depth, a brisket and ground beef combo for texture, and a few curveballs like Mexican chocolate and cinnamon that had judges going back for second bites.
The firefighters from Southold kept their recipe mostly under wraps, but the crowd loved the sweet touch of chocolate and a playful Dorito topped finish that added crunch and nostalgia in equal measure.
