New Face at Southold Elementary šŸŽ

When the school doors swing open, students will be greeted by a brand-new principal: Diana Tonne.

She’s no rookie, Ms. Tonne’s got 18 years in education, from teaching every grade K–4 to serving as an assistant principal. What drew her to Southold? The small-town feel where she can know every student, every teacher, every family.

This summer, she shadowed former principal Ellen O’Neill, jumped into the enrichment program, and already started building connections with staff, parents, and kids. ($)

Watercolors with Heart šŸŽØ

This month’s Dan’s North Fork cover artist is Madeline Daversa, and her brush is all about the East End. From farmers to fishermen, she paints the people who make our community tick.

Madeline swapped printmaking for watercolor six years ago and hasn’t looked back. Living in South Jamesport, she finds endless inspiration in the North Fork’s light, open skies, and the deep connection locals have to land and sea.

You can spot her work at the North Fork Art Collective in Greenport, Art Studio Hamptons, and even in national shows. Plus she’s the new VP of the North East Watercolor Society. She’s also dreaming of a book to capture the people and places of the East End forever.
