Good Morning, North Fork! Today is National Middle Child Day. We'd make a bigger deal about it, but middle children might get suspicious of all the attention.

Ready, Set, Go!

More Than a Stay, It’s a North Fork Experience🏡

Website | The Harvest Inn

Nestled within walking distance of several local vineyards, The Harvest Inn celebrates everything the North Fork has to offer. First and foremost, it's a bed and breakfast, where the highlight of every stay is a three course, sit down breakfast.

Each morning, guests gather on the porch or in the dining room, where owners Stacey and Steve Isaacs share local recommendations, help plan their days and evenings, and get to know everyone who walks through the door. By the time guests head home, they really feel like family.

Each room features a private bathroom, Smart TV, and thoughtful amenities, plus beach parking passes, chairs, towels, and umbrellas for easy days by the water.

The Harvest Inn is also serving up hands on cooking classes and wine pairings, giving guests another way to experience the flavors of the North Fork. Guests can book a group class or tasting by calling the inn and scheduling it during their stay.

This fall, those classes will be open to the public too! Think Thanksgiving sides, game day bites, Stacey's healthy food as medicine classes, and more.

DorĂ©e Gelato 🍹

At just 23, Paris Ahmed has turned a side hobby into a full time business with Dorée Gelato, a mobile gelato cart that quietly started making the rounds this spring and is now getting its official North Fork debut at Palmer Vineyards.

Ahmed’s original plan was actually wine. She earned a degree in Enology and Viticulture from Cornell, worked at Sannino Vineyards and Lenz, and once dreamed of opening a winery of her own. Somewhere between all that wine education and a healthy amount of YouTube, TikTok and food science, gelato entered the picture.

After about a dozen events and another 10 to 12 already lined up, Ahmed left her job at Lenz two weeks ago to take Dorée full time.

The cart holds up to six flavors and 12 gallons of gelato, with cups and cones running $6. Weddings have become a specialty, but Dorée is also popping up at corporate events, private parties and public gatherings. Pints can currently be found at Treiber Farms and Flavor Fork in Greenport.

Vintage Scene 👗

The South Fork may have Chanel and Prada, but the North Fork is making a pretty good case for clothes that have already survived a few fashion cycles.

A growing vintage scene is taking shape here, led by three shops with very different approaches to giving old clothes another life.

The Times Vintage has been holding down its Greenport storefront since 2013, when owner Elizabeth Sweigert took over the former Suffolk Times building. Inside, shoppers can find clothing spanning the 20th century alongside records, retro housewares and the occasional object that sends someone straight back to their grandmother’s living room.

Nearby, All Hours takes vintage a little further back. Bianca Munguía-Howie’s appointment only Greenport showroom specializes in rare Victorian and Edwardian pieces, some more than 100 years old. She researches, cleans and repairs garments herself before they hit the rack.

Then there’s Liza’s Lace, the newest of the three. Owner Brigitte Quinn discovered her love of vintage hunting during the pandemic before turning it into a Southold storefront.

The owners say sustainability, craftsmanship and the chance to own something genuinely different have pushed vintage well beyond its former niche status.

Sunset Shopping 🌅

Kenney’s Beach already knows how to put on a sunset. This Saturday, it’s adding a market to the view.

Unity Picnic đŸ€

For nearly two decades, Southold’s Unity Picnic has been about bringing people together. On Saturday, the community showed up to make sure that tradition still had plenty of life in it.

The Southold Town Anti-Bias Task Force hosted its annual gathering at the Peconic Lane Community Center, filling the afternoon with food, conversation, piano from Asen Roussan and sea shanties from Ethel’s Mermen.

This year’s picnic came amid budget cuts facing the Task Force, which made the community effort behind it especially noticeable. A Task Force member purchased a tent, recently retired Public Works employee John “JJ” Jerome took over the grill, and Supervisor Al Krupski even arrived barefoot Saturday morning to help with setup.

Former Supervisor Scott Russell, who was in office when the picnic began nearly 20 years ago, returned to praise the Task Force for building relationships through “understanding, dialogue and mutual admiration and respect.”

Animal of The Week

Meet Savannah đŸŸ

Meet Savannah! At 14 years young, this beautiful cattle dog mix has perfected the art of enjoying the good things in life: a cool breeze on a summer walk, a warm blanket, a comfortable couch, and most importantly, someone she loves sitting right beside her.

Savannah is gentle, trusting, and an absolute mush. She loves pets, forehead kisses, and being close to her people, and there’s something about those sweet eyes that gets you almost immediately. She isn’t asking for grand adventures or a packed social calendar. Give her a cozy spot, a little fresh air, plenty of affection, and someone to call her own, and Savannah is perfectly happy.

This lovely senior deserves to spend her golden years feeling safe, comfortable, valued, and completely adored. Savannah is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for a home where she can finally settle in for the good part.

If you have a soft spot on your couch and an even softer spot in your heart, Savannah would be very happy to fill both.

Trivia Time 🧠

Your brain deserves more than scrolling and skimming. Each week we’ll hit you with one question designed to make you pause, scratch your head, and maybe argue with whoever’s sitting next to you. Think of it as a quick mental pit stop: a chance to flex your random knowledge, test your memory, or finally use that obscure fact you learned in 7th grade.

Answer: The U.S. Treasury

41% of you got it right. The other 59% of you knew exactly what a $10 bill could buy, just not what was printed on it.

Local Spotlight

North Fork Coffee Trail ☕

For the first time, five independent cafés are teaming up for the 2026 Founding Edition of the North Fork Coffee Trail, turning a coffee run from Mattituck to Greenport into a choose your own caffeinated adventure.

The “Founding Five” are: Macchiato Espresso Bar, Panoramica, Stone Street Coffee, North Fork Roasting Co., and Aldo’s Coffee Company, five local stops helping put North Fork coffee culture on the map.

Pick up a trail card at any participating cafĂ©, make a purchase to collect that shop’s stamp, then keep working your way across the Fork. Each cafĂ© will also have its own perks for Coffee Trail participants along the way.

Collect all five stamps and the final stop comes with a little piece of North Fork coffee history: a limited edition 2026 Founding Edition enamel pin featuring the Orient Point Lighthouse, better known as “The Coffee Pot.” Pins are available while supplies last.
