Southold Lost a Legend ā¤ļø
Paulette Marie Ofrias, longtime owner of Southold Pharmacy and one of the townās most dedicated community champions, passed away on April 26 at the age of 67. For more than four decades, she ran the pharmacy like an extension of her family, and served just about every corner of the community in the process.
She was president of the Southold Board of Education, a proud member of the Rotary Club, a volunteer at St. Patrickās Church, and a tireless advocate for students, families, and neighbors alike. Her work earned her big honorsāfrom the North Fork Chamberās Business of the Year to SCOPEās School Board Service Award. but more importantly, it earned her the love and respect of a grateful community.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 2ā8 P.M. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrickās R.C. Church in Southold, with Fr. Peter Garry officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrickās R.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LUNGevity.

Tony Passes the Scissors āļø
After 54 years behind the chair, Greenport legend Tony āToppyā Ficurilli is hanging up his scissors. But donāt worry, the buzz lives on. Nizo Chrabekh, owner of Cutchogue Barber and a part-time mathematician (seriously), is taking over and reopening the Main Street spot as Nizoās Cuts and Shaves on May 7.
Expect the same friendly neighborhood vibe, with some slick updatesāthink new flooring, modern vanities, and cuts for all ages and hair types. Open daily 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., because great hair waits for no one.
Southoldās New Farm Stand š±
This May, the Peconic Land Trust is opening a brand new farm stand in Southold to showcase its Farms for the Future programāaka the North Forkās next generation of farmers. Picture a classic red barn (built by the Amish, naturally), packed with fresh veggies, flowers, herbs, oysters, and more from eight different farms.
Itās replacing the old self-serve tent (RIP) and comes with major upgrades: Wi-Fi, potential refrigeration, a loft for curing garlic, and yesāparking! Open 7 days a week starting in May. ($)
