Rockwell Runs the Vines đŸ·

Melissa Rockwell didn’t grow up dreaming of a wine career. In fact, she was set on becoming a graphic designer. But then came one college class Wines of the World and bam: box wine was out, and a lifelong passion was in.

Fast-forward to now: Melissa is the President of Long Island Wine Country and Director of Operations at Sparkling Pointe. She's gone from sipping cheap blends in college to elevating the entire region’s wine game.

As President of Long Island Wine Country, Melissa helped throw the region’s 50th anniversary bash in 2023, and then stayed to overhaul the playbook. She’s on a mission to make Long Island wines known for what they truly are: vibrant, cool-climate, world-class bottles worthy of national shelves and international toasts.

Queen of the North Fork Hives 🐝

Back in 2020, Sara Phillips was just a local mom looking for a new hobby. Fast forward a few years, and she’s managing beehives at some of the North Fork’s most scenic spots, Jamesport Farmstead, Garden of Eve, McCall Winery, and now Sweet Woodland Farm. Her beekeeping journey began with a class at Hallockville Museum Farm, taught by master beekeeper Chris Kelly. One hive led to another, and now she's buzzing with purpose.

Bees don’t just make honey. They help grow trees, flowers, fruits, and veggies—basically all the good stuff that supports ecosystems (and dinner plates).

What to start your own hive? Sara’s advice: Read first. (Beekeeping for Dummies is a fave.) Then take a class, like Hallockville’s Bee Lab, and find a mentor. Bonus: they offer honey harvesting events and memberships to help you learn the ropes—no bee experience required.

Foodie Friday đŸœ

Shaken, stirred, dirty, bone dry, however you like your martini, we hope you celebrated accordingly yesterday. That’s right, National Martini Day came and went on June 19, and if you missed it
don’t worry. We’ve got you covered for your next martini.

The North Fork may be known for its wine, but our martini scene is quietly excellent. From waterfront bars with a breeze to cozy coffee shops that moonlight as cocktail spots, this place is shaking (and stirring) up some serious drink game.

Also, friendly reminder: being a foodie doesn’t stop at the plate. A crisp, perfectly balanced martini counts as culinary excellence in a glass. Whether you’re Team Gin or Team Vodka, here’s where to keep the martini magic going.

🍾 Martini Madness at A Mano

Every Wednesday, A Mano in Mattituck is the place to be for $10 martinis. Whether you like yours dirty, dry, or with a twist, they’re serving up your favorite classics without the top-shelf price. But heads up, Martini Madness takes a vacation in July and August. That means only one more Wednesday left to get your midweek martini fix.

🍾 Martini Fridays at A Lure

If your weekend doesn’t officially start until there’s a martini in hand, we’ve got good news. Every Friday, A Lure is pouring up your favorites for just $12. Classic or creative, these cocktails come with a side of waterfront views and weekend energy.

🍾 Coffee Meets Cocktails at Aldo’s

Greenport’s favorite coffee spot just leveled up. Aldo’s is now shaking up espresso martinis. Think bold, rich, perfectly crafted sips that’ll keep you buzzing in the best way.

They’ve also got other boozy brews like the Bourbon Hot Chocolate, Midnight Negroni, and Hazel & Oak, but let’s be honest, we’re here for the espresso martini. The cafĂ© bar is open daily ‘til 7pm, so swing by when coffee just isn’t quite enough.

🍾 Martinis avec Style at Demarchelier

We asked our street team member Sarah, self-proclaimed martini lover and cocktail connoisseur, where she goes for her favorite martini on the North Fork. Without hesitation, she said Demarchelier.

If your ideal martini comes with a side of French charm, Demarchelier in Greenport is calling your name. This cozy bistro nails the classics, think ice-cold, crisp martinis in chic glassware with just the right amount of flair.

Feeling fancy? Go espresso. Feeling timeless? Go dirty. Either way, you’re sipping in style.
