Two Shops, One Vibe 🛍

What happens when vintage furniture, antique rugs, and handwoven pillows move in together?

On July 1, Stephanie Pinerio’s The Bellwether officially joined forces (and storefronts) with Laura O’Brien’s Fez & Ivy. Think of it like a design dream team: Fez & Ivy brings the vintage charm, The Bellwether adds handmade textile magic, and shoppers get the best of both worlds.

Pinerio’s side of the space is a feast for fiber lovers. She’s got handwoven pillows, knitwear, embroidered pieces, peel-and-stick wallpaper, and even Sabah shoes. (Yes, those trendy slippers you’ve seen all over Instagram.)

Rose Hill Vineyards Wins Big 🏆

Raise a glass to Rose Hill Vineyards in Mattituck because they just pulled off a major flex at the 2025 New York Wine Classic. Their 2019 Clarity Cabernet Sauvignon didn’t just win, it swept.

-Governor’s Cup (aka Best Wine in New York)
-Best Red Wine
-Best Cabernet Sauvignon
-97 points out of 100 (because perfection is overrated)

Out of nearly 700 wines from over 100 wineries across the state, this bottle was the one.

Governor Hochul gave them the shoutout. The judges gave them the gold. And Rose Hill? They gave us the kind of wine you bring to impress your in-laws and your sommelier friend.

Ami Opisso, Rose Hill’s GM, said the Clarity Cab is their “crowned jewel”

Long Island wine is having a moment, and Rose Hill is leading the charge. Better book that tasting room visit now, before everyone else gets the memo.

North Fork Cheer Heads to Junior Olympics 📣

There’s a whole lot of spirit (and back handsprings) flying around Route 58 lately and for good reason. The 16-member team at North Fork Cheer, ages 9 to 12, just got invited to compete in the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Houston on Sunday, July 27.

Coach Stephanie Piraino says it all started when they competed at the Open Championship and caught the judges’ attention. Now? They’re training four days a week, three hours a day, building a two-and-a-half-minute routine that flips, flies, and pyramids its way to greatness.

The best part? North Fork Cheer is the only team from Suffolk County, and all of Long Island, headed to the Games. Co-owners Piraino and Lauren Berry say this is the kind of moment they’ve been building toward for years. Small gym, big dreams.($)

Southold’s Watering Rules 💧

Southold is getting serious about saving water, and your lawn might need to get on board.

At a recent public hearing, the Southold Town Board proposed new rules to limit lawn irrigation, including an odd/even watering schedule (based on your house number) and a ban on watering between 10 AM and 4 PM. But here’s the plot twist: they had initially scrapped those rules before the hearing… even though they were still listed in the draft. Confused? So was everyone else.

As local water demand rises and the North Fork’s sole source aquifer faces growing stress. Even the Suffolk County Water Authority recommends odd/even watering to ease the pressure on pipes and pumps.

After hearing the feedback, Town Supervisor Al Krupski changed his tune and just like that, the board is bringing the restrictions back for discussion at their next meeting, this Tuesday at 4:30 PM.
