A Fresh Take on the North Fork 🍷
North Fork Sights, Bites & Flights isn’t your typical wine tour, and honestly, that’s the point. This is a curated, small-group experience (2–10 people) that blends vineyards, oysters, farms, and local producers into one seamless, fully planned day, complete with pickup, drop-off, and a guide who actually knows the people behind the places.
Yes, visitors love it. But locals might appreciate it even more.
Because it’s not about where you go, it’s how you experience it. Behind the scenes tastings, conversations with owners, perfectly timed stops, zero planning, zero driving.
Perfect for hosting friends, entertaining clients, or just treating yourself to a version of the North Fork that feels a little more VIP than routine.

The Lowdown
Greenport Votes Yes 🗳️
Greenport voters signed off on a $26 million school budget Tuesday night, approving an 7.91% tax levy increase and a round of staffing cuts that will eliminate 21 positions districtwide.
The budget passed comfortably, 398 to 153, clearing the 60% supermajority needed to override the state tax cap. Greenport was the only North Fork district this year to go above the allowable cap.
District officials say the cuts include 10 instructional positions, 10 non-instructional roles and one administrative position, but stressed the plan keeps class sizes small while preserving sports, music, transportation and extracurriculars. ($)

Nameless Writers Salon Returns 📖
The Nameless Writers Salon is back at Sound View Greenport for its 15th installment on May 26, bringing another stacked lineup of authors to the North Fork for an evening centered around the theme: “Becoming.”
Hosted by artist and curator Kara Hoblin inside The Library at Sound View, the salon will feature readings and conversations from bestselling and award winning writers including Chris Pavone, Annie Hartnett, Brooke Lea Foster, Jennifer O’Brien and Mary Latham.
This season’s theme leans into transformation in all forms, identity, grief, reinvention, ambition, memory and the people we slowly become along the way.
Now in its third season, the salon has quietly turned into one of the East End’s most interesting recurring cultural gatherings, blending nationally known literary names with the atmosphere of an old school salon night.

More Than an Art Space 🎨
Tucked into Bootleg Alley just steps from the harbor, Veme Studios is turning a bright new Greenport storefront into an art studio, creative clubhouse and community hangout.
Run by local artists Verona Peñalba and Melissa Flotteron, the shared space invites anyone, experienced artist or total beginner, to book time with paint, clay, collage or mixed media and simply make something.
The duo first started teaching together more than a decade ago after meeting through their husbands, eventually hosting classes at wineries, hotels and makeshift studios around Greenport before opening Veme’s first official location in 2023.
The studio offers pottery classes, painting workshops, kids’ art parties, private group sessions and a summer Creators’ Club for kids ages 6–13. This season also brings a new bead bar where guests can make charm necklaces and bracelets.
