Water Alert 🚨💧

Rain’s in the forecast, but Southold’s still close to a Stage 1 Water Alert, according to a July 7 notice from the Suffolk County Water Authority. That means things like lawn watering, car washing, and filling up your kiddie pool could soon be off the table.

Why? Lawn irrigation (especially between 2–7 AM) is tanking water pressure across town. SCWA says the cooler move is to water between 9 PM and midnight, and Supervisor Al Krupski is asking everyone, homeowners, businesses, even lawn pros, to get smart about how and when they irrigate.

End of an Era ⚽️

After 36 years in the classroom and 31 seasons on the sidelines, Southold legend Coach Andrew Sadowski is officially retiring. He and his wife Rosie are moving to North Carolina to be closer to their kids (and their first grandchild, arriving this September).

Coach Sadowski isn’t just leaving with a box of red pens and practice cones, he’s leaving with 322 wins, 11 county titles, and enough stories to fill a stadium. He’s built a legacy that’s made him the “Dean” of Suffolk County coaches.

Happy retirement, Coach! ($)

Southold’s Beach Boss 🏖️

If you’ve soaked up a sunny day at New Suffolk, Goose Creek, or any of Southold’s six stunning beaches, you’ve got Jac Citera to thank for the good vibes.

This summer marks Jac’s sixth season as Southold’s unofficial Captain of the Coastline, the guy who keeps the beaches staffed, the wasps out, and the sunsets safe.

Jac’s no stranger to shoreline duty. He was once a Southold lifeguard himself and dreamed of one day doing what his own beach manager, the legendary Bob Muir, did. Fast forward a few decades, and here he is, living that dream with a clipboard in hand and 1,450 staff shifts to juggle.

But it’s not just about tides and towels. Jac’s real impact is in the lifelong skills he passes on to the next generation: CPR, confidence, and leadership. ($)
