More Than a Stay, It’s a North Fork Experience🏡
Website | The Harvest Inn
Nestled within walking distance of several local vineyards, The Harvest Inn celebrates everything the North Fork has to offer. First and foremost, it's a bed and breakfast, where the highlight of every stay is a three course, sit down breakfast.
Each morning, guests gather on the porch or in the dining room, where owners Stacey and Steve Isaacs share local recommendations, help plan their days and evenings, and get to know everyone who walks through the door. By the time guests head home, they really feel like family.
Each room features a private bathroom, Smart TV, and thoughtful amenities, plus beach parking passes, chairs, towels, and umbrellas for easy days by the water.
The Harvest Inn is also serving up hands on cooking classes and wine pairings, giving guests another way to experience the flavors of the North Fork. Guests can book a group class or tasting by calling the inn and scheduling it during their stay.
This fall, those classes will be open to the public too! Think Thanksgiving sides, game day bites, Stacey's healthy food as medicine classes, and more.

The Lowdown
New Response Plan 🚓
Southold officials are moving toward a new police protocol that would have Town officers respond as peacekeepers, not participants, when other law enforcement agencies, including ICE, conduct operations in town.
Police Chief Steve Grattan said the proposed policy would send Southold officers to scenes where crowds gather or tensions rise, with the goal of de-escalating situations, documenting events with body cameras, and maintaining public order without assisting or interfering in federal enforcement actions.
Board members also discussed creating a standing task force to improve public outreach and review body camera footage after enforcement actions.

Party for the Park 🎉
As the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle sails into Greenport for the national Sail250 celebration, the village is turning Saturday into an all day celebration that ends.
From 6-10 PM, Mitchell Park will be filled with live music from Deadwood and Friends, a Greenport Fire Department Marine Rescue BBQ, local oysters, craft cocktails, wine, beer, shave ice, family activities, and a slapshot challenge hosted with the New York Islanders.
The evening also celebrates Mitchell Park's 25th anniversary while kicking off the push to bring back Greenport's seasonal ice rink. The community is working to raise $100,000, with every dollar matched by Friends of Mitchell Park to help unlock funding for the $1.2 million state supported project.

Novel Lets the Walls Talk 📖
Author Catherine Harper didn't just write a historical novel, she let the house do the talking.
I Am the House follows the same North Fork home through generations of history, with the house serving as the narrator.
Inspired by a dream that revealed the book's ending before any characters or plot existed, Harper weaves together stories spanning the British Occupation, the Gold Rush, the Great Depression, the Civil War, and more. Along the way, readers meet both real historical figures and imagined residents whose lives reflect the changing North Fork.
Harper says her goal was to imagine the lives that could have unfolded within those walls. Drawing on years of restoring historic homes and extensive research into local records, she pieces together a series of stories that give the house, and the people who called it home a lasting voice.

Animal of The Week
Meet Nacho! This teeny tiny 9 year old Chihuahua may be pocket sized, but his personality is absolutely larger than life. Like any self respecting Chihuahua, Nacho is convinced he's the king of the castle, and honestly, we're not here to argue. He loves being carried around like royalty, soaking up attention from his favorite people, and returning the favor with plenty of cuddles.
Nacho is smart, spunky, and always keeps life interesting. He takes his time deciding who earns a spot in his inner circle (the same goes for his favorite snacks), but once you've been chosen, you'll have a devoted best friend for life. His big personality, hilarious confidence, and endless charm make him the perfect companion for someone looking for a tiny dog with a whole lot of heart.
Nacho is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready to find the person who will happily treat him like the little king he believes he is. If you've been searching for a pint sized sidekick with enough character to fill a whole house, Nacho is waiting to meet you.

Trivia Time 🧠
Your brain deserves more than scrolling and skimming. Each week we’ll hit you with one question designed to make you pause, scratch your head, and maybe argue with whoever’s sitting next to you. Think of it as a quick mental pit stop: a chance to flex your random knowledge, test your memory, or finally use that obscure fact you learned in 7th grade.

Local Spotlight
The Blank Canvas 🤝
After a little more than a year of bringing the community together, Save the Container is looking toward its next chapter with plans for The Blank Canvas, a flexible gathering space designed around the people who will use it.
The vision is a welcoming spot for everything from workshops and craft nights to classes, celebrations, meetings, and pop up events. But before any plans are finalized, Save the Container wants to hear directly from the community.
A quick 2–3 minute survey will help shape what The Blank Canvas becomes, ensuring the space reflects the interests and needs of the people who call the North Fork home.
If you've ever wished there were more places to gather, create, learn, or celebrate locally, now's your chance to help influence what comes next.
