Co-working Comes to Greenport 💻
Sick of working from your kitchen table? Jonathan Baker feels your pain. That’s why the Greenport-based architect is launching Village Works, a brand new co-working space right in the heart of the village.
It’s currently under construction, but when finished, it’ll be tucked inside the same building as Flavor Fork, the grab-and-go food biz run by Baker’s wife, Sarah Mastracco. (Power couple move.)
Village Works will have solo desks, collab-friendly zones, a conference area, and yes, fast WiFi. Translation: everything you need to look productive while sipping a latte.
And speaking of sipping, you’ll be able to walk straight from your desk into Flavor Fork for a snack, drink, or lunch break.
There’s no official opening date yet, but furniture is moving in, internet is getting upgraded, and pricing is in the works.

Housing Dream Team Assembled 🏠
Big news on the housing front: Southold just brought on Andrea Menjivar as its first-ever full-time Community Development Project Supervisor. She’s a 2018 Southold High School grad, a freshly minted NYIT architecture alum, and officially started her new gig on July 16.
Andrea will team up with government liaison Gwynn Schroeder to form the town’s new Community Development and Housing Department, basically the dynamic duo behind Southold’s effort to bring more attainable housing to the community. ($)

Shelter Island’s Ninja 🥷
If you’ve spotted a quietly ripped guy working the dock at Claudio’s this summer, you might just be looking at the next American Ninja Warrior champ.
Luke Lowell-Liszanckie, a 23-year-old Shelter Island native, has officially made it to the finals of the hit NBC show, Luke’s in the running for the $250K grand prize.
He’s known in the ninja world as “Triple L”, and while the money’s cool, he’s in it for the love of the game. Luke’s been obsessed with the sport since he was 7, got serious at 17, and now trains and coaches at Smithtown Ninja Academy. ($)

Foodie Friday 🍽
If you’ve been with us for a while, you might remember when we dished out a roundup of weeknight dining specials on the North Fork. Well, grab your forks, because it’s back!
This time, we’ve cooked up a fresh lineup of summer weeknight bites. Ready to feast? Let’s dig in!
Monday: Fried Chicken & Dances in the Park 🍗
Every Monday through August 25, Pip’s is open late for one very good reason; fried chicken. This isn’t just dinner; it’s a portable party. Crispy chicken, creamy mac and cheese, fresh slaw, and a pastry that says, “why not?” Take it to the lawn at Mitchell Park or stick around and pair it with a beer or glass of wine (your call). Your Monday night plans? Solved. Casual, tasty, and a short stroll away.
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday, but make it Tulum 🌮
North Fork Table & Inn just called in reinforcements, and they brought tequila. All August long, they’re teaming up with Tulum Tacos & Tequila (yes, the legends from Mineola and Baldwin) for a taco pop-up that’s bringing big flavor to Southold. It’s spicy. It’s summery. It’s here for a good time, not a long time. So grab your crew, come hungry, and let the Tuesday night fiesta begin.
Wednesday: Seafood Boil 🦞
Wednesdays at Duryea’s? They smell like butter and taste like summer. Their Signature Seafood Boil is back, and it’s a seaside spread for the books: lobster, clams, mussels, crab legs, corn, and potatoes piled high like it’s a seafood summit. It’s $40 a head with a three-person minimum, but trust us, you want backup for this kind of feast. Things get messy. In the best possible way.
Thursday: Sueños: A Seafood Dream 🦪
Little Creek Oysters is flipping the script on Thursdays with Sueños, a rotating dream menu that’s equal parts flavor, fun, and “wait, what did I just eat (and how soon can I eat it again)?”
Ian, Rosalie, and crew are serving up creative chaos like:
🐟 Yellowfin Tuna Collar Carnitas
🦞 Shrimp & Lobster Bao Buns
🦐 Montauk Red Shrimp Aguachiles
🦪 Mussels in Piri Piri Butter
No repeats. No boredom. Just pure Thursday night magic. Want a sneak peek each week? Instagram is your best friend.
Friday: Burger Night 🍔
Every Friday evening, McCall Wines serves up juicy, grass-fed Charolais burgers straight from their own ranch. Pair it with crispy fries, a glass of estate-grown wine, and vineyard views that make you forget it’s still a weekday. It’s relaxed, delicious, and just the right amount of fancy. (P.S. Can’t make Friday? They do it on Thursdays too.)
Nothing in this section is sponsored. They’re just fun things you need to know. I’ll always let you know when something is sponsored
