The Lowdown
Track Stars, Tucker Style đââď¸
Mattituck is sending five track & field athletes to the state championships and theyâre doing it with grit, and PRs (personal records).
At last weekendâs Suffolk County Class C state qualifiers, five Tuckers punched their golden tickets to Middletown High School for the NYS Championships June 13â14. Hereâs whoâs heading north:
Rhianna Lutz (Sr., long jump): Nailed a 16'5" jump on her final attempt.
Ever Meyer (So., pentathlon): Hit a personal best of 15'0" in the long jump to finish 5th overall in the pentathlon and claim a spot at states.
Daniel Gamboa-Boutcher (Sr., triple jump): Crushed his PR by 4 feet with a 42'4" jump.
Haley Lake (Sr., pole vault): Cleared 8 feet, best in Class C.
Rachel Kubetz (8th grade, 1500m): Eighth. Grade. Ran a PR of 5:12.26. Took the top Class C spot.
This is the first year small schools like Mattituck got their own Class C division at qualifiers, and coaches say itâs a game-changer. More chances. More medals. Lets Go Tuckers! ($)

SFD Christens New Fireboat đ¤

Emergencies donât always stick to land. Thatâs why the Southold Fire Department just welcomed a brand-new fire boat, officially christened this past weekend at Goldsmithâs Boat Shop.
Whether itâs a fire offshore or a marine rescue, this powerful new vessel gives our hometown heroes the tools they need, no matter where the call comes from.
A big salute to the volunteers who always show up, on land and water.
