Holiday Cheer Starts Here đ
If youâre looking for the North Fork version of the North Pole, youâll find it in Cutchogue at Santaâs Christmas Tree Farm.
28 acres of evergreens and twinkling lights are waiting to turn your weekend into a Hallmark movie. Established in 1979, this place has been growing Christmas memories for generations.
Right now, the Gift Shop is open seven days a week, packed with everything merry and bright, from ornaments and garlands to cozy home dĂŠcor, toys, and gifts thatâll make even the Grinch crack a smile. Whether youâre decking the halls or shopping for someone who already has everything, youâll find a little magic here.
Mark your calendars: November 28th kicks off the official Christmas tree season. Thatâs when the saws start buzzing, the cocoa starts flowing, and the North Fork officially turns into a winter wonderland.

Greenport Schools Evacuated đ¨
A propane issue gave Greenport Schools an unexpected half day yesterday.
Southold Police and Greenport Fire crews tracked down the source and shut off the gas. Superintendent Beth Doyle told families the building is safe but needs extra maintenance before students return.
Classes are set to resume today, but the homecoming dance and all after-school activities are postponed. New dates will be announced next week. ($)

The Hubbardsâ Legacy Lives On đźď¸đś
A century and a half after his birth, Greenportâs beloved painter Whitney M. Hubbard is getting the hometown spotlight he deserves.
The Floyd Memorial Library has opened âWhitney M. Hubbard: 150 Years,â a sweeping celebration of the artist whose shimmering harbor scenes helped define the Peconic Bay Impressionists.
Hubbard wasnât just a painter; he and his wife Ruth, a pianist and organist who once led choirs to Carnegie Hall and the 1939 Worldâs Fair, turned their First Street home into an early 1900s arts hub. He painted light on water; she filled the house with music.
Now the library is inviting everyone to join in the tribute with Hubbard Appreciation Day on Saturday, Oct. 25, complete with:
-Curatorâs tour at 1 PM
-Community Art Share at 2 PM
-Afternoon Tea with Live Music at 3 PM

đď¸ Meet the Candidates The race for Southold Town Board is heating up, and if thereâs one thing all six candidates agree on, itâs this: the North Fork isnât the sleepy farm town it used to be. But how to handle that change? Thatâs where things get spicy.

Foodie Friday đ˝
Marooned Morsels đŞ
Some people go to culinary school and dream of Michelin stars. Others, like Eliot Ramirez, dream of the perfect cookie, the kind thatâs big enough to share but too good to actually share.
His cookie journey started at Untitled at the Whitney, where the large cookie came with a milk punch cocktail shot (because why not?). From that moment on, he knew he wanted to make cookies that deserved their own spotlight.
After graduating from ICC Culinary School in Manhattan, he baked his way through the city, from restaurants that proudly featured his large cookie to his last stop at Crossbar CafĂŠ on the Upper West Side, right near Levain Bakery. Which meant: bring on the competition.
When he traded city skylines for the North Fork, he brought his recipe with him, a triple chocolate chunk cookie made with brown butter, Tahitian vanilla (more floral, less basic), and finished with flake salt for that chefâs kiss moment. Eliot baked for The Greenporter Hotel, popped up at Southold General, and now? Heâs on a mission to take over the North Fork cookie scene with Marooned Morsels.
His current lineup stars the signature triple chocolate chunk, peanut butter M&M and a seasonal pumpkin spice white chocolate (because fall deserves its moment, too).
We caught up with Marooned Morsels at Rowan Craft Boutiqueâs Autumn Stroll last weekend and, obviously, had to try each of the flavors.
Triple Chocolate Chunk: Crisp edges, a softer center with just the right amount of give, and three kinds of chocolate that melt together like a perfectly rehearsed trio. Topped with a sprinkle of flake salt, itâs the kind of cookie that makes you stop mid-conversation and just nod in appreciation.
PB M&M: Like your favorite childhood snack, but all grown up. The peanut butter hits just right, rich without being over the top, and every colorful M&M adds that perfect little crunch. Itâs comfort food in cookie form.
Pumpkin Spice White Chocolate: Think snickerdoodle meets pumpkin pie, with the spice shining through and creamy white chocolate chunks keeping it sweet and balanced. Itâs basically sweater weather for your taste buds.
Youâll be able to find Marooned Morsels at both the Southold and Greenport IGAs, and at Center Cuts in Mattituck soon. Keep your eyes (and sweet tooth) ready, and follow Marooned Morsels on Instagram for the latest flavors.
