Well Water Woes šØ
Suffolk County is testing private wells around Reeve Avenue in Mattituck after harmful chemicals, PFOA and PFOS (aka āforever chemicalsā) were found in the water. Out of 27 wells tested so far, 14 came back above the stateās safety limit. Yikes.
The source? Still a mystery. But testing has expanded to 51 wells, and anyone with unsafe results is getting bottled water or carbon filtration systems while the county investigates.
County officials say the public water system is safe. Well testing is free, just call 631-852-5810 if youāre in the area and concerned. ($)

From spots to dock your boat to places to sip rosĆ©, get sweaty, or find the perfect hostess gift, the North Forkās local businesses are the heart and flavor of the community.
And no one gets that more than Northforker. Every year, their team debates and discusses the top five in categories like best waterfront dining, hiking trails, fitness studios, wineries, and more.
They donāt rank them (no drama here), just list them alphabetically. But trust us, youāre gonna want to check out every single one.
