Whereād the Dock Go? š¤
If youāve boated into Greenport lately and wondered where the visitor dock went⦠youāre not the only one.
The Village Board spent nearly five hours last week talking about the now-missing dock behind the East End Seaport Museum, a longtime free drop-off spot for boaters thatās become a hot-button issue this summer.
Hereās the short version:
The dock was falling apart and didnāt make it into this yearās budget.
Rebuilding it could cost $75K+
Some residents say, bring it back. Others say, why should local taxpayers foot the bill for out-of-towners.
Officials also raised safety concerns: oversized boats, speeding, and even commercial use.
One idea? Move it to Mitchell Park, charge a fee, and manage it better. Another? Ditch it entirely.

Skate Park Redesign Rolls Forward š¹
Big news from Greenportās Board of Trustees meeting, the long-overdue facelift for the Greenport Skate Park is finally getting underway.
At the July 17 work session, Rena Wilhelm (president of Greenport Skate Park Inc.) and Dominick Marcoccia of Marco Masonry Corp. presented Phase 1 plans, and trust us, this isnāt just a fresh coat of paint.
Hereās the deal:
Theyāre revamping about 5,000 square feet on the eastern side of the park.
Out goes the old mini ramp. In comes a brand new street course for skaters, BMX riders, and scooter kids of all levels.
The beloved six-foot spine and 12-foot vert ramp? Staying right where they are (and getting some TLC in Phase 2).
Theyāve already raised over $100K and Phase 1 wonāt expand the parkās footprint, just make way better use of whatās there. ($)

Dog of The Week
Meet Sparkles š¾
If youāve been waiting for a sign to adopt a ridiculously good-natured, snuggly, slightly goofy best friend, this is it.
Meet Sparkles. Sheās 3 years old, 48 lbs, and believes with her whole heart that sheās a lap dog. Her hobbies include fetch, sunbathing, post-dinner couch lounging, and accepting belly rubs like sheās royalty.
Sparkles is crate trained, comes when called, listens to commands, and is highly food-motivated, aka easy to train. Her foster fam says sheās sweet, smart, loyal, and has a dazzling coat complete with freckled cheeks and white sock paws.
Sheās looking for an active home with someone patient, dog-savvy, and ideally around during the day (Work From Home folks, looking at you š). Bonus points if you like long walks, hiking trails, or lazy evenings with a snuggle bug.
Sparkles is healthy, kissable, and ready to light up your life.

Shall We Dance
Line Dancing in the Barn šŖ
Southold Historical Museum is turning up the twang with Line Dancing in the Barn, this Friday, July 25. Led by the fabulous and high-energy Lady T (Terry Lou).
Never line danced before? Perfect. Basically live at country weddings? Also perfect. This series is all about fun, fitness, and cutting loose in one of the most charming barns on the North Fork.
Come solo, bring your partner, or wrangle a few friends. Just donāt forget your boots, and maybe a little flair.
A Little Dosey Doe š¢
Hallockville Museum Farm is throwing a summer hoedown and yes, youāre invited.
The Country Barn Dance is back on Saturday, July 26, and itās bringing the rhythm, the charm, and caller Chart Guthrie to get those feet moving. Whether you know every move or just like stomping in rhythm, this is your night to shine.
Bring your own chairs and blankets, soak up the scenery, and get ready to dance the night away.
Hoedown by the Bay š
The New Suffolk Waterfront Hoedown by the Bay is bringing the honky-tonk to the North Fork on Sunday, July 27. Itās all going down on the lawn in front of Minnow at the Galley Ho.
No experience? No problem. Square dance legend Chart Guthrie will walk you through every two-step and spin. Backed by the Dance All Night Band, youāll be stomping and grinning in no time.
Bonus: Prizes for the Best Dancinā Duds, so dust off your denim and bring your fringe.
Nothing in this section is sponsored. Theyāre just fun things you need to know. Iāll always let you know when something is sponsored
