Doroski Wins 🗳️
In one of the biggest East End upsets, Greg Doroski flipped Suffolk County’s 1st Legislative District blue, unseating Republican incumbent Catherine Stark with 52% of the vote.
Doroski, a four-year Southold Town Board member, pulled off the win in what’s long been considered solid GOP territory, covering Southold, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Brookhaven, and Southampton.
When Doroski takes office next year, he’s got his sights set on working waterfront funding and tackling deer management across the East End. His term runs through 2028, thanks to Suffolk’s new four-year legislative terms. ($)

Blue Tide 🔵
Democrats made a splash in Southold Tuesday night, flipping the Town Trustees blue and hanging on to the highway superintendent’s seat, while the GOP managed to keep a few offices red.
Democrats Liz Gillooly, Eric Sepenoski, and Joe Finora snagged all three open Town Trustee seats, giving Dems a 4–1 majority on the board that oversees Southold’s wetlands and waterways.
Democrat Dan Goodwin cruised to re-election as Highway Superintendent, winning 58% of the vote.
Republican Denis Noncarrow held on as Town Clerk, winning 57.6%, while Ken Poliwoda took one Assessor seat. The second assessor race is too close to call, Democrat Leah Tillman Sullivan leads by just 30 votes over Republican Charles Sanders, who’s currently serving overseas.
Town Justice Eileen Powers ran unopposed and was re-elected. ($)

Francsgiving 🍷
We know Thanksgiving can get heated. Someone’s bound to bring up the stuffing vs. dressing debate, and that one Uncle is going to die on the hill of “marshmallows belong on sweet potatoes.” But here’s one thing the whole table can agree on: Long Island Cabernet Franc.
It’s the Goldilocks of wine, not too heavy, not too light, just right. It makes sense with everything on your plate. Turkey? Perfect. Brussels sprouts? Divine. The cranberry sauce still shaped like the can? Even that.
Cabernet Franc has quietly been growing on Long Island since the early 1980s, when pioneers like Louisa Hargrave and Dave Mudd first planted it. Early wineries like Lenz, Pindar, Macari, Pellegrini, and Roanoke helped establish its reputation, while winemakers like Bruce Schneider turned it into a cult favorite in the ’90s. Today, it’s New York’s most widely planted red grape.

The Heart of It 🧡
When two powerhouse moms combine fitness, art, and family fun, magic happens. This summer, Rachel Goodale (of Stroller Strong Mamas) and Amelia Little (of Little Moments Little Fam) teamed up to create The Heart of It, a brand-new community hub on Main Road in Aquebogue.
The space buzzes with yoga mats, paintbrushes, and giggles, offering everything from stroller-friendly workouts and messy crafts to kids’ movement classes, wellness workshops, and even birthday parties.
On sunny days, classes head outside for a dose of nature (and less cleanup). Inside, parents find community, kids make friends, and new moms get support.
