The Lowdown
One Last Bag for the Road 👜
After nearly four decades of leather, laughter, and Main Street magic, Di Angela Leather Goods & Accessories is zipping up shop for the last time.
Since 1988, Patty Carlos has been the force behind the corner of Front & Main, immigrating from Colombia and turning her family’s leather biz into one of Greenport’s most iconic shops. By 1998, she bought the building and made it home (literally, she lives upstairs).
What started with belts and bags became a curated treasure trove of jackets, jewelry, hats, and more. Patty and her husband Mark aren’t selling the business, they’re looking for someone new to take over the space.
Here’s to Patty, to 37 stylish years!

A Marker with a Meaning 🪧
There’s a new addition to Main Road in Mattituck, and it’s not a farm stand or a food truck. It’s a historic marker honoring Elymus Reeve, a formerly enslaved man who became one of the North Fork’s most remarkable leaders in the 1800s.
Elymus was born into slavery, taught himself to read and write, and eventually became a respected farmer, preacher, and church elder at Cutchogue Presbyterian. His prayers were so powerful, one eyewitness said they moved people like the wind moves trees.
He and his wife Hagar raised nine kids, including John Bunyon Reeve, who went on to be a pastor, seminary grad, and teach at Howard University.
The marker is part of a growing movement to highlight the stories of the 550+ Black residents who lived in Southold between the 1600s and 1827, many of whose names and stories are finally being uncovered thanks to local historians and researchers.

Dog of The Week
Rocky is a 2-year-old smarty-paws with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. This energetic pup is always ready for a game of tug, whether you're inside or out in the yard. Brains and brawn? He’s got both.
He’s a total socialite with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a furry sibling (as long as it's not a cat, he's not their biggest fan). Loyal to the core, Rocky will be your constant companion, tail wagging by your side from morning walks to evening snuggles.
Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, Rocky’s bags are packed and he’s ready for forever. If you’re looking for a smart, friendly, and fun-loving best friend, Rocky’s your guy!

Art Appeal
Lenz Winery x Wendy Prellwitz
This Friday, July 11, from 4-7 PM, Lenz Winery is rolling out the red carpet for Wendy Prellwitz and her stunning show, Nocturnes: Paintings & Monotype.
Wendy’s abstract paintings and prints are all about that dreamy dance of light and water, a quiet nod to the mysterious, infinite world just beyond what we see. It’s like the North Fork’s calm evenings captured on canvas.
Grab a glass, say hi to Wendy, and soak in the vibes at Lenz’s cozy tasting room.
William Ris Gallery x Anthony Russell
On Saturday, July 12 from 4–7 PM, William Ris Gallery is hosting a reception for Anthony Russell’s solo show: North Fork Narratives.
Anthony’s work is a love letter to the East End. Think weathered barns, vineyard rows, Greenport’s carousel, and salty old boatyards, all seen through his bold, imaginative lens. It’s the North Fork you know, just a little more magical.
Soak it all in alongside Anthony himself, fellow collectors, art lovers, and the William Ris Gallery crew.
Brecknock Hall
Starting this Saturday, July 12, The Gallery at Brecknock Hall is hosting a Fundraising Art Show & Sale, and it’s your chance to support history and take home something beautiful.
