Repair Café Saves the Day 🛠️
Greenport’s Floyd Memorial Library turned into a hub of helpfulness on May 3, when the North Fork Environmental Council hosted another round of its beloved Repair Café. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help neighbors fix everything from wobbly bikes to broken blenders, proving that one person’s trash might just need a new screw.
Born in Amsterdam in 2009 and brought to Greenport in 2022, the Repair Café movement is all about keeping items (and skills) alive. This session saw 59 items fixed or assessed—pretty impressive, especially with a packed weekend calendar.
Missed it? Mark your calendar: the next Repair Café pops up in Jamesport on September 13. Fix-it pros and broken treasures welcome. ($)
